Support from Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew — strengthening the energy resilience of the healthcare system

Thanks to the support of Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, and the Head of the Sumy Regional State Administration Oleh Hryhorov critically important equipment has been delivered to a Central City Clinical Hospital of Sumy City Council.

The hospital has received a modern high-capacity 360 kW generator, worth €52,500 providing a reliable primary and backup power source in the event of prolonged electricity outages. Equipped with a German engine, the generator is designed for stable and efficient operation, with several operating modes and optimized fuel consumption. Its capacity allows to maintain essential medical services even during a complete blackout — keeping operating rooms, laboratories, the emergency department and other critical units functioning when patients need them most.

For a hospital that serves around 350,000 people every year, this equipment is first and foremost a guarantee of stability and continuity of medical care, providing safety and confidence to patients regardless of external energy challenges.

What makes this assistance especially meaningful is the personal financial contribution of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, who donated his own funds to make this initiative possible for the people of Sumy region.
