UNICEF is pleased to be strengthening its work with Sumy oblast to improve the protection and wellbeing of children impacted by the war

This includes humanitarian and recovery efforts, as the region pushes forward its recovery efforts, which were discussed at the “Resilience and European Future of Sumy Region” forum.

The vital importance of early recovery #ForEveryChild and the importance of building community resilience through support for children was on the agenda for the gathering.

“We are supporting the recovery of Sumy Oblast while continuing to meet urgent humanitarian needs,” said UNICEF #Ukraine Chief of Field Operations, Kenan Madi.

“Helping frontline communities rebuild is essential for the future of children and we are committed to supporting children in areas like Sumy as part of the region and Ukraine’s broader recovery efforts,” he added.

Our work with government, local authorities and partners in Sumy is focused on strengthening essential services and driving reforms for children, youth and families — ensuring that every investment, whether in education, child protection, or water and sanitation, contributes to long-term human capital development.

A child-centered recovery is non-negotiable to protect and improve children’s lives today and for the future of #Ukraine.
