Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Restoration – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba took part in the International Conference “Resilience and the European Future of Sumy Region”. During his speech, he emphasized the importance of supporting frontline territories and announced the second tranche of state aid — 100 million hryvnias for the region’s communities.

“Frontline regions are the frontier that separates Europe from russian aggression. Every day, they face shelling and attacks on energy facilities, railways, and critical infrastructure. Getting through this heating season is a shared challenge for the government, local authorities, businesses, communities, and our international partners”, – said Oleksii Kuleba.

He emphasized that it was in the Sumy region where the implementation of the Program for Supporting Frontline Regions began. The program is aimed at rapid recovery, strengthening security, and enhancing community resilience. This year, the state has already provided an additional 200 million hryvnias in subsidies for 25 communities in the region. The funds were allocated for the purchase of modular shelters, construction materials, special equipment, vehicles, and for carrying out emergency recovery work.

“We are now preparing the second tranche in the amount of 100 million hryvnias, which the region will receive by the end of the year. We are looking for new ways to support such communities so that each of them can withstand and continue to live”, – emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
Oleksii Kuleba also thanked international partners for their continued support, emphasizing that it is the joint efforts of the government, local communities, and donors that create the country’s true resilience.

For reference:
The Program for Supporting Frontline Regions covers 238 communities with a total population of over 6.6 million people. Its goal is to meet the basic needs of communities located in high-risk areas due to the war and to create conditions for their further development.
